Black Diamond built the Mission 50 Backpack for ice craggers, but it’s plenty versatile enough to work in the warmer months, too. This upwardly-mobile hauler features reActiv XP suspension, which uses an ultra-flexible floating hip-belt to provide uninhibited mobility and comfort on the approach and the ascent, and fixed shoulder straps to keep your load from moving around and peeling you off while you’re getting vertical. The Mission is supremely streamlined, but features PickPocket ice-tool pockets, a crampon pouch, and three-point haul system if you choose to pull your gear up behind you. The hip belt’s removable, the top rope strap is stowable, and the thermo-formed back panel is designed to keep you comfortable when you’re leading a front-pointing life.
