Built for long approaches and technical descents in variable conditions, the Black Diamond Carbon Aspect is a classically designed alpine touring ski with a few modern implementations for reduced weight, and enhanced skiability. Keeping weight in mind at every stage of the design process, Black Diamond utilized an ultralight engineered wood core, Flat Sandwich carbon construction, and then pulled the edges back from the tip, bringing their weight down to just under six pounds in the 176cm length. You might be thinking a ski this light may be noodley once you open them up; but think again, because the Carbon Aspect has full ABS sidewalls for enhanced stability at speed once you loosen your turns up on those open aprons. A slightly rockered tip adds a touch of playfulness rarely seen on a ski in this class, but with camber underfoot, and a traditional tail, you’ll get the edge hold you need when you’re working your way down exposed and technical lines. SkinLock tail tabs keep your skins secure on the ascent, and the white topsheet helps reduce snow accumulation, so you aren’t pulling around a bunch of needless weight on the skintrack.
