ProLiteGear.com tackles the controversial subject regarding using AT ski boots in Alpine bindings.
The short answer is – it depends. Not all AT boots can be used in all Alpine bindings. Some AT boots are built to be compatible with Alpine bindings, others have a rockered sole and so are not designed to be compatible with an Alpine binding.
Some Alpine bindings have an Anti Friction Device (AFD) that is designed to mechanically move from side to side.
Alpine bindings with a mechanical AFD can sometimes accommodate an AT Boot with a rockered sole, but you need to come to your own determination if it releases reliability and predictably.
It isn’t advisable to do it.
If you do, start with a lower DIN setting, and work your way up.
