Support : Knowledge Base : Advantages of SmartWool

Section:Product Guides

Evaporates moisture: SmartWool absorbs moisture from the skin into thousands of micro-porous cells where it is broken down into vapor and evaporated.

Insulates: Because of the natural crimp of each fiber, SmartWool contains millions of microscopic air pockets that give it “loft.”  These air pockets create an insulation layer that can block out cold or heat, leaving a dry layer of air next to the skin. Nothing insulates better than dry air.

Itch free: The Australian Merino wool fibers used in SmartWool socks are longer than other conventional wool sock fibers. This extra length creates a knitted yarn that is itch-free and silky soft to the touch.

Odor control: Because of SmartWool socks' ability to control and evaporate moisture, they inhibit foot fungus and offensive odors.

Cushioning: The Merino wool fibers used in SmartWool socks are known for their ability to cushion and retain their “natural crimp.” This results in reduced shock and superior cushioning that maintains its natural shape for many years, unlike socks made of lesser quality wool.

Blister control: The evaporative and cushioning properties of SmartWool provide for excellent blister control.

No shrinkage: SmartWool socks are put through a special process which removes the microscopic ends of the fibers which are the cause of “shrinkage” in standard wool products.
