At 41 grams, the Supreme Carabiner is among the lightest carabiners on the market. However, it doesn't sacrifice size or features, and is an excellent choice for winter alpinism. A deep basket with a wide gate opening allows for quick and easy clipping.

| Application notes regarding Stubai Supreme Carabiner |
It's hard to get excited over carabiners. There are so many sub-45 g wiregate biners on the market today that one tends to think there isn't much difference between them.
We learned the hard way one icy cold day while climbing winter ice deep in Montana's Beartooth Range. We were using the "popular" 36g wiregates that you see on the rack of many summer alpinists. However, in the cold conditions of winter, they simply didn't do the job. They were difficult to clip, were nearly impossible to handle with mittened hands, and frozen slings didn't sit properly in the bends.
We tried several models, and found the Stubai Supreme to be among the best of them. Sling bends load evenly when weighted and the deep bend and large radius make the carabiner a joy to clip and unclip with mittened hands.
