Rab Stretch Neo Jacket

After speaking with the crew at ProLite they made me a true believer in Neo Shell and the fabric has lived up to it's hype (IMO). The breath-ability is amazing and its like wearing a softshell, not a hardshell. Cant wait to use it more this winter when ice climbing season rolls around.

Neo shell is going to make all other shells obsolete. It breathes incredibly well. It has great stretch and fits over a helmet with ease. I try not to be all positive in reviews so here is my compliant, I wish they made it in red. By far the most breathable jacket/membrane on the market.

Haven't had a chance to really hammer this jacket yet, but will soon. Have used ski touring a few times. Definitely breathes noticeably more than similar membranes. I wanted to combine a gamma mx and my gtex shell into one to shave some pack weight and this comes close to providing great breathability and weather protection. Beyond the hype there are some cons. You do feel the wind when it's really blowing (30mph plus), so when I used to pull out my shell to be used as a bomb shelter this in comparison is not absolutely windproof. It's a compromise to be sure, more breathable and unsurprisingly very slightly less windproof. Flip side is you're not soaked with sweat if you're working hard, therefore potentially warmer in the long run...complicated. Bottom line in my mind is the this jacket is great for high activity people. If you're not moving much (ie sat on a chair lift in the breeze) you might be cold without layering up. Fit and features are great. I personally wouldn't trade mine for anything. Very happy.
