We've also extended the spikes a bit and increased the angle on the open front points to 26 degrees giving the Steel KTS a more aggressive personality.
For sure footing on ice and snow, the Kahtoola Traction System is designed for use with any common footwear from trail running shoes or hiking boots to snow boots. Kahtoola's 10-point gripping system, at 19 ounces (540 g) per pair, is the lightest 10-point system available. Constructed from high quality and extremely strong heat-treated 7075 - T6 aluminum alloy (or 4130 Chromoly steel). A unique stainless steel LeafSpring Extender Bar and independent front and rear straps allow the system to flex naturally with any footwear.
An asymmetric design means that the each side is designed to match correctly to either the right or the left shoe, thereby optimizing performance and fit. Straps and quick-release buckles are water/freeze resistant and make it easy to put the Kahtoola Traction System on any shoe. Each comes with E-bars in two different lengths and the KTS can be further adjusted easily without tools. The folding heel support and collapsible design make for compact storage with the pair taking up the same space as a 1 liter water bottle.
