Weighing in at nearly half the weight of the award-winning Expedition Crocodile Gaiters, the Cascadia is a two-ply waterproof, breathable gaiter design intended for hiking, backpacking and cross-country skiing. Outdoor Research wrapped the Gore-Tex PacLite® fabric around the leg area for comfort and then used rugged coated packcloth throughout the boot area where vapor transfer needs are not a factor. By placing the right textiles in the right spots, Outdoor Research significantly reduced the overall weight. A durable, nylon-supported rubber instep strap and hook-and-loop attachment keeps the Cascadia firmly attached to your hiking and backpacking boots. If you need a gaiter for mountaineering in subzero conditions, the Cascadia isn't your gaiter, but if you cover trail throughout the year, this is a gaiter in stride with your outdoor lifestyle.

These gaiters are very tough for their weight, and will be my go-to gaiter this winter. I was impressed with how well they held up after abusing them in deadfall timber. For the price and weight they are hard to beat.
