The year round all purpose bivy. The South Col is more weather tight than the Salathe because it has less zippers and less bug screen, but with less ventilation. Left or right side zippered access with Velcro backup. Full Tegraltex top and foot section. Sheltered horizontal face level opening with zippered closure and zippered layer of no-see-um netting for better venting in foul weather. 22" side zipper makes entry easier, Velcroed weather flaps are great for venting or allowing you to stay roped up on a big wall. A replaceable wire stiffener in the hood brim encourages air flow and keeps fabric off your face.

| Integral Designs South Col BIvy Review |
|
The South Col solves the material-on-your-face problem with a thin flexible wire. The wire keeps the head of the sack propped up yet stuffs easier than the Bibler Hoop. Another nice touch: Integral Designs makes both right and left zips, so you can mate it to the zipper on your sleeping bag. Because it vents so well it is one of the least claustrophobic sacks. I picked the South Col Bivy over all others. Tester's Choice Climbing Magazine August, 1997.
