XLC 490

rated 5 of 5 stars
I told the guys at ProLite Gear that I wanted a lightweight pair of do-it-all crampons and this is where I ended up. These crampons strap onto whatever boots I'm wearing so I can use them for backcountry skiing, general mountaineering, and even hiking at higher elevations in spring. They're perfect for what I use them for.

Do these come with or s it possible to get these with anti-balling plates? And how much does this add to the weight if so?

Cheers,
Kieran

The anti balling plates are not included. The ones that camp makes to fit these are really heavy and over done. I choose to make my own. I use a clothing detergent bottle like tide soap to make mine. Cut out big squares out of the sides of the jug. Dunk them in a pot of boiling water and the plastic will be very pliable. Flatten and trace with a marker or a scratch awl the pattern you wish to cut out. Cut small holes in the sides of the anti-bot to tie a 3mm cord through. The 3mm cord will hold on the anti-bot.
