Aquamira Treatment Drops

These drops go with me everywhere there isn’t stagnant water. They weigh far less than a filter, there are no electronics that can fail or batteries to die, and it treats your water while you hike. Combine the drops, fill your bottle, have a snack while you wait for the drops to activate, mix into your water, then get on your way. Simple and efficient.

McNett Aquamira (Aqua Mira) Water Treatment

I have used aquamira exclusively as my water treatment system for the last several years. I agree that it is an excellent product. I suggest using two "mixing cups" to speed up the process if more than one container needs treated at a time. While the flavor is not bad at all, a dash of lemonade or other drink mix helps a lot after several days of use. I did have a bottle crack on one occasion after accidentally dropping it several feet onto a rock--clearly not a problem if you just hang on to it. Low weight, inexpensive, and effective...it works for me.

Dump the pump. I have used aquamira for a year now. I have found that it adds no taste to water if you add the correct amount to the water. It is the lightest way to go for full protection for creepy crawly's in your water. It is fast and simple, My wife hates the idea of floatys in water so we pre filter through a bandanna. I also have found that using my hydration bladder that nothing grows in it anymore. With a few previous methods I have forgotten to empty it when I got home and it looked like a petri dish a couple of weeks later. With Aquamira nothing grows in it. That goes to show how well it truly it works.

Aqua Mira

Add me as another satisfied Aqua Mira user. I cannot taste the treatment at all, in fact I prefer Aqua Mira treated water to that treated with my Hiker Pro pump, which AM completely retired about two years ago. Since I mostly carry bottles instead of a hydration bladder, I'll second Glenn's recommendation of having additional mixing caps to speed things up. Really makes a difference if your filling 3-4 different bottles. When compared to pumps or iodine, I consider this a entirely better mousetrap, vs the more often seen incremental improvement.

I have used this treatment for a year now and have been very happy with it. Used it first on a long Grand Canyon trip which solved the problem of clogging filters, and on several trips through the Bob Marshall, a place where my wife and I once picked up giardia. I have never been able to detect any taste or become ill from drinking any water treated with it. I agree with the comment that taking two cups will speed up treatments. Great product!

I've been using this for over ten years. Minimal taste (to me, although one friend disagrees), doesn't clog, super light. Bought a product with identical containers, packaging, and active ingredients in Canada. Instructions explicitly addressed disinfection (last time I bothered to read the label on Aquamira it only said 'to control odor' or some such legal sidestepping), and had a table for time/dosage levels for cryptospiridium; i.e. if you could let it sit longer you could use less.
